About KOKORO HANASHIZUKU

An oiran experience that began in Kyoto Gion, in 2008.

Our Story
Our craft since 2008

A long-established oiran studio, grown with our guests.

Since opening in 2008, we have spread the joy of the oiran experience, supported by so many guests. KOKORO HANASHIZUKU is a specialist oiran-experience studio, loved by visitors from Japan and overseas. Backed by the reassuring quality of the Kyoto Kokoro Group, we offer everything from an authentic oiran experience to relaxed, easy-to-enjoy plans. First-time and returning guests alike are welcomed with heartfelt thanks — from the “kokoro” (heart).

KOKORO HANASHIZUKU “hana-shizuku” means “a droplet of a flower.” We wove into our name a wish: to gently capture the fleeting beauty of a moment in full bloom, like a flower.

Why us
Our world

Why guests choose us

A little about our world, built over many years of oiran experiences in Kyoto Gion.

Established in 2008

We began offering oiran experiences in Kyoto Gion early on, in 2008. As one of the studios that spread the oiran experience across Japan, we cherish the years of craft we have built up.

A machiya in the Gion hanamachi

We renovated an ochaya (teahouse) once frequented by real maiko, keeping the charm of the Kyoto machiya. Step outside and maiko still walk by — you shoot amid the genuine air of the flower district.

Professional shooting & finishing

From kimono dressing and hair-and-makeup to professional photography and retouching. With years of honed skill, we draw out each guest’s individual charm.

A trusted group: 3 in Kyoto, 1 in Tokyo

The only oiran-experience brand with multiple locations. We deliver the reassuring quality of the Kyoto Kokoro Group.

Our Commitment
Quality first

Attention to every detail.

Above all, what we value most is the quality of a single photograph.

Makeup skill

Look closely at a photo and you’ll see the difference that makeup skill makes. To make each guest even more beautiful, our staff work in earnest every day, continually refining their craft.

Dedication to the photo

From the shoot to the finishing, we work with care down to the smallest detail — capturing both the splendor unique to the oiran and each guest’s own beauty in a single frame.

Heartfelt hospitality

Not just “satisfied,” but truly moved. With that as our goal, we treasure warm, genuine hospitality.

A sincere approach

We want to face the transformation-photo experience sincerely. With that single wish, we attend carefully to each and every guest.

Our Stance

With respect for oiran culture.

The oiran left behind a rich culture of beauty — in dress, in ornament, in artistry.

Our experience draws on that visual heritage: the magnificent robes, the elaborate hairpins, the sense of a world set apart from the everyday. We approach it with care and respect, and offer it as a photographic experience for visitors to Kyoto — a chance to wear that beauty, and to take home images you will treasure.
