From booking to the shoot and payment — here is how your visit unfolds.

Book online or by phone. Same-day visits may be possible until 17:00, subject to availability.

02Arrival & CostumeChoose▾

Arrive at our Gion machiya studio and choose your favorite uchikake robe from our gorgeous collection.

03Hair, Makeup & DressingStyling▾

Chatting through the image you have in mind, our experienced staff style you into an authentic oiran.

04Photo ShootShooting▾

On a gorgeous exclusive set that flatters your oiran look, a professional photographer captures you, suggesting the best angles and poses.

05Free Photo TimeSelf-photo▾

In our self-photo room, take your own keepsake shots on your smartphone while still in oiran costume.

06Change & RefreshChange▾

Change back in the powder room. Cleansing, toner and other amenities are provided.

07Selection & PaymentPayment▾

Choose your favorite photos. Cash, credit card and QR-code payment are all accepted.

08Photo DeliveryDelivery▾

Your photo data is delivered within about a month. *Optional all-shots data can be handed over on the day.

QI don’t speak Japanese — is that okay?
AYes. Our staff aren’t fully fluent in English, but we communicate with translation apps and gestures, so overseas guests can enjoy the experience with ease.
QCan I visit on the same day?
AWe work by reservation, but same-day visits may be possible depending on availability (until 17:00). Calling us is the surest way.
QDo I need to bring anything?
ANo. Kimono, accessories and hair & makeup are all provided — come empty-handed, in your everyday clothes.
QCan couples, friends or families join?
AYes. Two or more guests are welcome, and it makes for a wonderful experience to share.
QDo I get photo data?
AYes. You receive a set number of retouched photos per plan, with the option to purchase more.
QHow long does it take?
AAbout 2 hours for the Standard plan and about 2.5 hours for the Authentic plan, depending on options.

A long-established oiran studio, grown with our guests.

Since opening in 2008, we have spread the joy of the oiran experience, supported by so many guests. KOKORO HANASHIZUKU is a specialist oiran-experience studio, loved by visitors from Japan and overseas. Backed by the reassuring quality of the Kyoto Kokoro Group, we offer everything from an authentic oiran experience to relaxed, easy-to-enjoy plans. First-time and returning guests alike are welcomed with heartfelt thanks — from the “kokoro” (heart).

KOKORO HANASHIZUKU “hana-shizuku” means “a droplet of a flower.” We wove into our name a wish: to gently capture the fleeting beauty of a moment in full bloom.
